the bellfry

I have stretched ropes from bell-tower to bell-tower; garlands from window to window; chains of gold from star to star, and I dance.
-ARTHUR RIMBAUD

Let this darkness be a bell tower and you the bell, as you ring, what batters you becomes your strength.

The only refuge left to us was the poet's ivory tower, which we climbed, ever higher, to isolate ourselves from the mob.

Friends are forever, cousins are for life

“Cousins by chance, friends by choice.”
 ~ Proverb

No one pushes us to be open with one another. We became friends because we chose to become so. Even if we don’t live near each other, we still linger a connection. Our teen years were the most memorable ones because that’s when you started to open up. I was one of those few people who know your dirty little secrets.

Our cousin-friendship thing became so strong and long-lasting. We learned to accept our imperfections and forgive our own slip-ups.

“Cousins are even more important to those who never got siblings.”

So many years gone. So many things happened. So many changes took place. Now, we share the same common denominator. You don’t have siblings. I have 1 big sister and 1 big brother, however, we are miles apart. They’re in the US and Hong Kong respectively.

We only have one another. You are now my sister. You may be older than me, however, you make me feel like a big brother to you. LOL. Nevertheless, I appreciate all the things that we do together. You fill that emptiness that I feel inside every time I miss my siblings.

We’re cousins. We have the same bloodline. The ties that bind us are deep. I will always be there for you when you call, I will always show up because we’re more than just cousins, we’re friends and you know that.

Happy birthday, Shiela.

“Cousins are friends that will
love you forever.”

las casas filipinas de acuzar

I have 2 days off and as much as possible, I make it a point to spend them wisely. I was able to watch an old movie one time and the setting was so cool. It was very antiquated and made me thought of how it was like living in the past.

I secretly wished that I have a time machine.

I wanna go back like 100 years.
I wanted to see the old Philippines.
I wanted to see old houses and take photos of them.

Then I remembered a place which was featured
in a magazine I once read.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar has various
collection of vintage houses.

I learned that the developer has purchased the old houses coming from different provinces in the Philippines.
The houses (over 100 years old) were disassembled, moved and reassemble until they are fully restored.

They have successfully re-created an era which will make everybody appreciate our historic past. I highly recommend the young peeps to see it. It is a lesson in history made fun , not boring.

I enjoyed the historical tour. I took time in taking photos. I was so engrossed and I didn’t notice the time. I only stopped my photography when I finally got tired and realized that
I haven’t taken my lunch yet.

It was really nice to see the old Philippines.

Traveling back in time was really made possible by Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar .

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is an open-air museum and heritage park in Bagac, Bataan, Philippines.
The resort's theme is "Pride in the past, hope for the future"

halo halo de iloko

HALO-HALO de ILOKO ‘s exact address is: 12 Zandueta St., San Fernando City, La Union, San Fernando La Union

It is situated downtown, near the Catholic Church and you can actually walk from there after hearing mass.

It's a small, nevertheless warm restaurant. It has gained popularity thru it's very delicious halo halo thus, attracted attention from the media. It is a very popular place and
is endorsed by several famous celebrities.

I got so curious about it that’s why during one of my
SURFtrips  in San Juan, La Union,  I promised myself
I will drop by to that place and try their famous halo-halo.

I ordered for Fiesta Halo Halo – big serving, lots of ingredients and along with it is an extra serve of milk on a cup.

It was a good thirst quencher.
Made me feel like endless summer is a possibility.

Ponce Suites

Everytime I travel to a certain town or city,I always ask assistance from google and search for the usual "where to go, what to do, what to  see, where and what to  eat, "

When I searched for Davao City details, google led me to
Ponce Suites.

It was truly a must see place and an attraction in itself .

What I read from about this place was totally true.
It was a smorgasbord.
A hotel, an open air cafe and bar, function house,
museum and art gallery.

It is a three-storey hotel. I found my way up and every step I took, I was surrounded by arts in all its form.

I was in awe because anywhere and everwhere I looked - the walls
the ceilings, the floors, they were all filled with sculptures,
framed photos and paintings.

I particularly liked the numerous interesting artworks made of assorted recycled materials,

I saw artworks in paper maché , portrait sketches
and even murals.

I must say it was indeed a visual treat.
Those who value modern art can call this place a sanctuary.

The brain behind this works of art is Kublai Milan ,
Mindanao’s renowned artist.

Ponce Suites is located at :

Corner Road 3 and 4, Doña Vicenta Village, Bajada, Davao City, Philippines
