Danish Film Festival Movie Marathon

The Shang Cineflex recently had a 5-day Danish Film Festival from December 9 to 13.

I went on the last day. The experience was so great because the movies shown at that time had various themes.

  I watched a total of 4 movies.

The first was shown at exactly 2 pm and the last was screened at 9pm. Each film has a running time of 2 hours and few minutes. I learned that this cinema frequently screens indie films. Most of them are best foreign films which garnered multiple awards.

What makes it more exciting is the fact that they are free. You just have to go early and line up.

From now on, I will always look forward to the next foreign film festival they will feature.

On Being a Writer for When in Manila

WhenInManila.com is a social media blog with pool of writers and photographers who love being around all the corners of Manila and beyond. They primarily want to share all their wonderful experiences.

It is the site to see and read to know what's happening, what's new, what's hot and exciting.

Since I love travelling and trying out new exciting things to do, I wanted to be part of it and so I sent a letter of intent to its managing staff.

It has been over a month when I applied as one of the writers and today, December the 7th, marks my very first article which was featured on their site.

I am now officially one of the writers/contributors for When In Manila.

About Japol Orona:
The author loves travel and photography. He is someone who is incapable of staying in the same place for very long time. He is adventurous and living a wild and free life. Moreover, he has embraced working on a graveyard shift and been used to living the sleep-deprived caffeine-fueled kind of life.

Green Grass

"If the grass looks greener on the other side. Stop staring. Stop comparing. Stop complaining and start watering the grass you're standing on."

On Realizing the Good Customer Service I Provide

I had a very challenging call from one of our customers. My caller hates my company. She hates the service. She hates us all the more when she can't use her credit card.

She screamed at me! She cursed me! She didn't want to listen to me. She said she doesn't understand me. She was mad to the max...!

After a few minutes, she got tired of shouting and started to shut up and gave me time to talk.

I found out she was just trying to use the card for cash advance at an ATM machine and was unable to get the money she wanted.
I told her the reason was because of the wrong PIN (personal identification number) she used.

Eventually, I heard total silence on the other end. I removed the security hold on the account and informed her, the card is good to go.

THEN, she said sorry. She apologized. She said she didn't mean it when she said she hates me & my company. She admitted she was wrong.

SO, she started saying she loves the customer experience she had with me.
The call ended with her saying... " I love the way you assisted me and also the way you addressed my concern.. I love you sweetheart.."

On Having A Very Long Call

This is the worst day of the week for me. I can't believe to have handled a call for exactly 74 minutes and 33 seconds. My usual call lasts less than 10 minutes. My call handling time is always ideal. However, that particular call I had was really a nightmare.

Imagine yourself talking to a 92 year old customer who hardly hears. It took me forever to explain the status of her account. Patience is really a virtue. PATIENCE. That's what I discovered. I never imagined myself possessing it. I wish I have it all the time.

Nevertheless, the call turned out fine. I was told to be so sweet and charming by the customer at the end the call.

On Having Good Customer Care Skills

Call center agents are expected to be individuals who take in the vital customer care aptitude. It is an asset in the BPO world. The company’s sales and productivity can be achieved through first-rate customer relations.

There are 3 things which I believe can help agents keep their job:

An outgoing and friendly personality.
This is hard to show because the clients are being serviced over the phone. the voice, the choice of terminology and the manner of saying the words play an important role here.

Google  Image

A people-oriented attitude.
This makes everything possible for the agent to deal with customers making them feel as the most important people in their existence

Google  Image
An ample knowledge of phone etiquette.
Learn to listen carefully and never butt in while customers are talking. whatever they are saying, let them finish first. always acknowledge and let them feel you are more than willing to assist and help them the best possible way you can.

On Staying Awake

Google Image

My work can really be so toxic. The moment I logged in...queueing starts. It can really bring sore to my throat. That's why  I always have coffee beside me. With coffee close to my reach,I can sip it when my throat gets dry and itchy. When large volume of calls come pouring in, I always wish the clock will start moving fast so I could already take my break, relax and sip more coffee, then pee. There was a time when I hoped there would be system breakdown so I can just advise the customers to call in after 30 minutes.

Google Image

One time, I really felt so exhausted. Lunch break was heaven to me! One hour of not taking calls. I went to Adobo Connection restaurant just a few steps away from my office. I didn't talk to anyone and wanted my voice to rest for a while. I even just pointed my meal order.

Google Image

After my one hour lunch break, I went back to work on the floor. I secretly wish for the customers to stop calling that day. Whoever said "be careful what you wish, they can come true" was right. The following 4 hours that day was idle. In an hour, i only received 5 calls. I was supposed to feel good. Well, it turned out i got I bored. I even felt so sleepy. you know the feeling of wanting to sleep so bad and you can't because you simply can't and wont be allowed? Well, i cant cry over spilled coffee hhmm, milk?

The Bonfire

"I saw the sky and sea and sand and the flickering flames of the bonfire through my tears. All at once, it rushed into my head with tremendous speed, and made me feel dizzy. It was beautiful. Everything that happened was shockingly beautiful,
enough to make you crazy."

"Absence diminishes small loves and increases great ones, as the wind blows out the candle and blow up the bonfire."

“The flames of the luau bonfire burned brightly. Sparks flew into the sky and disappeared before they reached the stars above. Near the horizon, the moon was large
and round and flawless as porcelain.”

HK: Ocean Park Adventure

My big bro and I were actually not a theme park fan. But since when in Hongkong, it’s a must to see the famous Ocean Park so we still took time out to visit the place. We hopped off a bus to give it a look.

Prior to having Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park Hong Kong was one theme park which were enjoyed  by tourists around the globe. It was even considered as one of the world’s best theme parks which offer not just pure entertainment,  moreover promotes  education in a fun manner.

As soon as we got  the ticket, we got a copy of the park map, the guide for all the attractions and  details about show schedule and the location for any important spots along the theme park area.

There were lots of exhilarating rides like: The Abyss, Turbo Drop, The Dragon, The Eagle , Flying Swing,  Space Wheel etc. but we didn’t ride any. Yes, we 2 are boring people that time and just satisfied by merely seeing the rides and laughing at the people who were screaming and scared to death while on the rides.

Boring as we are, we just opted to watching shows at the Ocean Theater. I found joy in watching Dolphins and Sea Lion perform tricks. We also admired the big aquariums.

I liked the idea of a close encounter with different marine creatures. My favorite is NEMO the clown fish and the sea horse.

The  tunnel-like passageway also was very impressive . It allowed us to carefully witness the swimming sharks and sting rays up close like within our reach.

We also enjoyed the bird sanctuary.

I think Ocean park pretty much for the kids,  really  a great day out for the family.
