On Being Featured on the Sunday Spreadsheet
Being featured in a newspaper is so fascinating. I recently attended a writer’s workshop. I came in a little late and knew from the start that I wont be able to sit since the event was jam packed. However, I found an empty seat at the middle. I wondered why no one occupied it. Possibly the people inside didn’t want to get much attention because getting in that seat will require you to walk right in the center of the venue. Nevertheless, since the talk will take an hour and I didn’t want to stand that long, I decided to take that seat and didn’t mind at all even if all eyes will be on me.
As I approach it. I asked the lady seated on the next chair if it was already taken. She said it wasn’t and I can just sit next beside her. The talk was very interesting and I even managed to discuss a few thoughts with her. The lady who sat next to me was so pretty and looked so familiar. Right after the talk, we said goodbye to one another and I just realized that it was Rica Peralejo I was seated next to.
*Rica Peralejo is a Filipina actress, singer, and television host and a member of ABS-CBN's circle of homegrown talents collectively known as Star Magic.
A week after I was told my office mate that he saw me featured in a local newspaper. He cut the article and gave it to me. It felt good getting featured. Funny, it made me want to look at the article more than once.
